Amory watched Reese as he could for a bit, but as soon as the other walked to his door, he knew he had to move. It could spell trouble, whether or not he intended to go outside. Slipping up the fire escape swiftly, and onto the roof, he then noted that Reese's window had been closed. Biting his lip, he held in a curse, feeling his heart sink in his chest. "He felt my gaze," Amory murmured softly, a little surprised, then sighed and pressed his pale palm to his face. He stood still there for a moment, in the shadow of a neighboring building's taller roof, the warmth and vital pulse of his palm contrasting against the cool breeze that swept by so gently. Fingers trailing up his temples, he allowed himself to relax from the moment of disappointment.

"The man's a spy, the hell am I doing underestimating his abilities?" He whispered, wondering to himself for a moment before shaking his head and dismissing the mistake as him just having a bad night. It was time to turn in, if that's what this came to. At the very least, he had spotted the safe and the sniper rifle, and certainly got a few glimpses of his target. That was all he had really intended to begin with, but he was still rather bothered by the whole experience. Quiet and swift, he made his way down to street level to walk back to the brownstone he was rooming in, pulling his arms in around himself to help protect against the chill of the evening's wind. Entering back into the house quietly, he began to make his way upstairs when he heard his current roommate speak up.

"Back already, eh? What, he catch you peeping?" The man chuckled, playful with his words as he caught the distress look on Amory.

"Er, no--" he spoke firmly, then rubbing his cheek, a bit embarrassed to have someone question a failure of his. This wasn't the typical assignment nor situation at all. "He closed his curtains."

The abrupt, firm answers from the other, matched with the newly determined sheen in Amory's eyes lead the man to lift his eyebrows a bit, but he said no more. Instead, Amory continued quietly up the stairs, pondering how he had messed that up. Face feeling warm, his hands moved up to gently caress both of his cheeks, savoring the coolness of his slender fingers as he walked back to the safety of his room. He had to just rely on tailing the other the next morning to make the assignment work out, and while following after someone wasn't a foreign concept, this seemed to be all of a sudden. That light-haired cellist was surely causing a little stir for him, and he wasn't appreciating it.

Frustrated and embarrassed, he fell back into his bed, grabbing a pillow to cover his face and release an aggravated sigh into. Before too long, though he hadn't anticipated it, Amory fell asleep just like so. With his feet dangling off the end of the bed, a pillow over his face, and body resting atop the unmade sheets, he slept rather peacefully.
