"Here" Will said, lifting her good leg up so that she was off the ground completely and didn't have walk and put pressure on her legs. "It's not too far" he said, trying to encourage her to keep going. Despite her pain, they managed to carry her over to the shelter and lay her down gently. It was still quite hot in the shade, but Will could feel the relief of his skin as he broke away from the suns glare, before going back to retrieve the case of water bottles he had scavenged from the wreck.

Back in the shade, he looked out across the shore, hanging onto hope that Dr. Rider would be able to find their valuable supplies. He checked May's leg again and propped it up on a smooth rock. He stayed knelt in the sand and exhaled, puffing his cheeks, a sigh that encompassed the dejection and concern he had for their situation. What could they do? He racked his brains and tried to piece together the surreal happenings that ripped their mission apart. They were alone, as far as he could tell there were no more survivors from the boat, and they had no way to contact anyone for help. Will ran his hands from his forehead through his hair, a matted mess of salt and dried blood. In the heat, with their injuries and exhaustion is was pretty hard to do almost anything.

Dr. Rider continued his search for the supplies, looking from side to side, scanning the debris. He waded out into the waves, each one threatening to push him over, to reach heavy and large boxes bobbing sluggishly in the ocean.
