It pained him to be reminded of how people thought of unicorns. He knew there was at least one left; sometimes Patrin feared the whole world was right, but then remembered that there were ways for unicorns to hide in plain sight. He stopped. Faced with Kurako's frown, he offered a hesitant smile. There were birds twittering about, squirrels chattering, and wind blowing through the trees live waves across the sea. How could he not smile, despite the squeezing of his heart, the wrench of negative emotions.

"Elves are known to be rigid in their ways. Your adaptability, I assume you are so to accompany me into the wilds so unexpectedly, that most certainly comes from your human heritage. Yes, humans are weak ... physically, but they are the most adaptable of races because of that. " He tilted his head, and knelt to the forest floor. Patrin cradled a lone white blossom between his fingers, contemplating it, rather then make Kurako uncomfortable. "Embracing both sides of what you are should allow you to surpass even the most adept of your elven kin." Experience tainted his words with truth. Patrin had witnessed the growth of those with mixed blood before, seen what they could become if only given the right encouragement.
