Clark frowned. "You've never wondered what it's like outside your walls? Or be curious of what goes on with your people? Before you got on this ship, you told me that your father got rid of whatever pirates were out there." He picked at some stray thread on his bed, his mind racing as to what else she could have learned that didn't prove to be true. The thought made him pause, and then he asked, "Why were you on a boat? Where were you headed to?" If she hadn't been outside the castle until then, there was probably some sort of union involved. Even then, he wanted to clarify. Maybe he could come out of this with twice as much treasure than he initially thought, with a prospective husband awaiting.

'Be of use to the kingdom.' Her words seemed to repeat itself on his mind. Clark couldn't imagine the amount of responsibility placed on her. When he was her age, he was still working as a shoemaker, life as mundane as could be. Wouldn't the expectations be too much on her? Although he shouldn't sympathize. Royalty always seemed to have the largest cut out of everything, and used the common people as fodder. Reminding himself of hoe royalty treated them seemed to get his mind back to why he brought her on his ship in the first place.
