Trevor stood up from where he sat and leaned against the window sill. Could it be? he wondered. Is that a mermaid? As rare as many of his animals were, he had never had a mermaid in his collection. A large crowd had gathered around the caravan with the mermaid, and as loud as the large crowd was before, the volume suddenly decreased as the dulcet tones of siren pierced the air. The mermaid is singing, Trevor mused. It is definitely a mermaid. It has to be! He was filled with excitement.

After the song, he could hear cheers and applause from the crowd. Some people were pulling out their phones to take photographs with the mermaid. What a small tank she is in, though, Trevor noticed. A beautiful creature like that should be in a large body of water where she can swim freely. It does not look very comfortable in there. He thought about the available exhibits he could put her in, but there were none that did not have a predator of some sort that would put her in danger.

Finally, it was time to open the exhibit. The clock tower chimed once, indicating that it was 1 PM, and his servants dutifully opened the gates. Most of the families flooded into the zoo, while the caravans stayed outside. Trevor would be visiting each of the caravans one by one to see if there were any animals or plants he wanted to purchase from them. Some of the families also stayed with the caravans, because there were other wealthy owners of private zoos who could get the chance to buy something they liked.

Since Trevor was the host of the event, he had first pick. But just in case, he headed downstairs with his bodyguard and went straight towards the caravan with the mermaid.
