Nazo

One. Two. Three. Four. Sitting back in the little cage, the male counted each and every bar. Thirty six, spread apart by six inch gaps exactly. Should he could the other twelve on the top of said cage hmm? He glanced up for a moment, his eyes running over the bars in question. Perhaps, though that would make forty eight in all. He lowered his eyes, as the noises of the others began to draw his attention from his task at hand. A pair of brothers it seemed were messing around in their cages and communing with one another. “Tick tock….life slips away and death approaches” he chuckled. Probably not the most motivational thing to say at a time like this, but when was he one to ever care of such things. He watched the bugs for a moment then, intently for that matter. The way they dropped caught his curiosity indeed, this place was turning into more fun by the moment. Fun….that thought alone, if said out loud, would seal his own insanity in the minds of the others.

They were prisoners hurt and battered, and he was thinking this was all fun? He sat back a bit onto his hands, swaying his feet a bit as he took in the other occupants besides the brothers who were to the side of him. There was a girl, she seemed to be having trouble here. Awe, misery was quite delicious indeed. Tick tock, time was moving on and the silence was returning. The voice that had spoken to them not to long ago sounded mad indeed. He did not know who it belonged to, but he already liked this person indeed. It had to be quite a feat for them to be able to even find him, let alone get him here. He was looking forward to playing this little game. He laughed, before he realized it had been a litteral laugh out loud. He pulled his legs up so they rested against his chest, placing his hands on his knees, and his chin on his hands. The pupils of his eyes had always been a bit larger than other’s, giving him an innocent and curious look to him.

At the moment, they seemed to get even bigger, pushing away the icy blue that was the actual coloring in his eyes. “Sorry” he whispered, as if someone might hear, as if any sound louder than that would mean something bad. He just sat there then, in his huddled position for a bit, thoughts in his mind going blank as he listened to the silence around them. He did not even seem to blink during this time, which made the eeriness about him grow. He was slightly childlike in manner, but he was also a bit mental in his outward manner as well. None of them at this point could probably guess at what his true nature was. He doubted any of them even knew who he was, boy it would be a shock if they knew! His real name had been lost long ago, his Alias had become his new name, and it suited him perfectly. He finally moved a fraction, his eyes suddenly moving in the direction of the brothers, while the rest of him remained stone still. “Such a sad predicament…..pieces can not be moved if they are stuck in cages” he said.

He did not expect any of them to get the reference, but it tied back into his favorite saying he had created long ago of life being like a chessboard, and the people the pieces. He did believe that one must move the pieces, bending them to their will to take the position of king and clear the board in their favor. But that was quite difficult if there was nowhere to move the pieces. He was not one to be backed into a corner or won over. This little standoff of minds would not last to long. The voice had spoke of a amy, abilities, and taking over the world. He kept his outward expression blank, but inwardly he was more like a child in a candy store. So many ideas and thoughts threatening to bubble over. It was fun indeed to think of what this could all result in. He wanted to see where things would go, but there was no harm in nudging them right? One did have to make the first move in a game. It seemed the voice and the man of Dr. Lum behind it had done just that. Now it was his turn to make the second move, as the others made theirs.
