Shop Management Rules

We allow shops to create their own rules, as long as the rules are clearly posted and do not go against any of the forum's rules or the Terms of Service. Please do not complain to a mod about individual shop rules unless they break the overall forum rules or TOS.

Here are some guidelines and rules for shopowners:

The purchasing or aquiring of a pet is a contract between the shop owner and the pet owner. In exchange for gold, items, etc., you are required to provide that pet owner with pet images/artwork within a reasonable amount of time.

Obviously, it takes time to create the art -- some pets, especially extensive-roleplay pets and those with many stages -- take years to grow to their final forms. Please remember that you have entered into a contract that must be completed, or a refund must provided for the art not recieved. Taking gold/items and running, either by ignoring the shop and the pet owners, or by attempting transfer to a mule and leaving, is considered scamming. This is a bannable offense!

Disputes about pet ownership, refunds, etc. will be dealt with on an case-by-case basis. PM a moderator if you have a question, as many cases are complicated, and all situations cannot be worked out within these rules.

The rules under which a pet was originally purchased are also considered contractual. If someone buys a pet and the rules say roleplay is not required, the shopowner must abide by the rules from when the pet was purchased. The shopowner may change the rules for future pet owners, but not for previous ones. This also includes the addition of fees related to a particular pet.

BUT, decreasing requirements -- like making an RP-required pet into a non-RP-required pet -- is fine. Increasing and/or adding new restrictions and requirements to old owners is not allowed.

Regarding blacklists: Shops are permitted to keep blacklists, i.e. a listing of those not permitted in the shop. However, you are not allowed to be abusive or harass people within those blacklists.

If you create a shop with roleplayed pets or characters, and an owner leaves but wishes to roleplay their pet elsewhere, they cannot use your artwork or specific species idea, but they have copyright on the character they've created (ie. personality details and custom details, including appearance, etc.).
