I feel like they always always always do that in sports anime though. They like to give characters partners. They're paired up with someone as bffs, rivals, set partners, etc.

In Kuroko no Basket, there's Kuroko and Kageyama. There used to be Kuroko and Daichi. On other teams, there's Murasakibara and Himuro. Midorima and Takao. I could go on, but you have no idea who any of these people are. The point is, they hang out together. They're often seen together. They are pushed in your face as a set.



They do that in Haikyuu, which I also just watched. There's the very obvious Hinata and Kageyama pairing. Then there's Nishinoya and Asahi.

And let us not get started on things like Prince of Tennis, where there are doubled partners. I mean, come on! They just tie a bow around them and shove them at you, which is why Prince of Tennis yaoi was such a powerhouse back in the day!

I could go on, but I'm really terrible at remembering the names of boys in Sports anime. I had to look them up >_>
