The horse seemed protective over Andrew, and it made Joey smile. He hated how Andrew spoke, as though he didn't deserve the name that had been given to him. Sure it was a strange name for a native to have, but it didn't mean he wasn't allowed it. Joey cleaned the wounds and dressed them, looking at how weak Andrew seemed. "You have to have something to eat and drink before you sleep."

Not a lot, it would upset his stomach and cause him to be ill. Joey found a shallow bowl and scooped some of the spring water into it. "Carefully, not too fast..." He helped Andrew sip on the water before returning to the saddle bags and pulling out some jerky. He chewed it for the boy, helping him swallow the small amounts easier. By the time he had finished, it seemed as though there was no keeping sleep from Andrew.

"I'll look after you. Have some rest, you've no doubt had a tough week." He nodded to the boy and glanced at the white horse. She had refused to go eat the grass or drink from the spring, so she could be by her master's side. He had often marvelled at how the Indian's were so in tune with nature and animals. He smiled and went back to the spring, filling the bowl all the way up and carefully approaching the horse.

"Here ya go girl, you did very good. He should be OK when he wakes up. You need to drink something too," he offered the bowl to the horse, who sniffed it delicately before drinking from it. Joey smiled, gently patting her head. "You are such a pretty horse... Suits such a pretty boy..." He trailed off, staring off across the horizon, watching the sun rise. He laid back and tilted his hat, falling into a light sleep. If any danger approached, Night would warn him and he'd be up and ready to fight or flee.
