The building was a gold mine. The dark haired girl had stumbled upon the building by accident, looking for shelter for the night. It wasn't overrun with plants, and the beasts hadn't gotten to it yet. That was rare in this day and age. The outside of it was crumbling and the sign was broken, with a large "JC Penn-" with the rest broken off. The inside didn't seem as bad as the out. Some of the clothing racks were toppled over, but nothing was really strange in the building. It would make for good shelter, at least for the night. She also took her pick at the large array of clothes that the building had to offer. Some of it looked looted already, probably from before most of the humans were wiped out. Only people would decide to steal during the end of the world.

After picking up an almost new shirt and replacing it with her old one, she picked up some other supplies. She grabbed some spare clothing, and put it in the bag that looked like it could hold together for a while. Most bags that she found barely lasted a week. They broke very easily, so she was picky about what she chose. Color and style didn't matter to her. Nor did brand name. She actually found that most of the brand name clothes and bags didn't last long.

When she settled on a bag, she found some weatherproof coats. There was a leather one that had fallen from where part of the building caved in. "Must be my lucky day or something." she said to herself as she put it on. It was a little tight, but it seemed like it would last. Since she didn't see any others like it, it would have to do.

After finishing her search, she opened what used to be a bedspread and laid it out on the floor. It was comfier than most of her normal sleeping arrangements. But, it was hard to travel with a whole bedspread. She couldn't bring it with. Hopefully, she could make this camp last a while. Eventually, when the beasts track her down, she would have to abandon it. Luckily, it seemed they had left this place alone for a very long time. Hopefully she could stay here for a few weeks.

Fighting was never her thing. She wasn't too good at hunting either. But, she did what she had too, even if she wasn't very good. At the very least, at least she had the ability to bail whenever something went wrong. Being able to fly did have it's quirks, she could say that much. And the solitude wasn't that bad. Although, she did miss human companionship from time to time. She hadn't found anyone else though. Most likely, she wouldn't again. Occasionally she will think of the other experiments. Her number was 07, so there had to be at least six more. And she believed that the scientist had talked about some "Number Nine."

If there were others, and they survived all that had happened, why hadn't she found any of them? She had tried to call out, but that drew the beasts' attention. So she hadn't tried that again. She knew that she was very close to where the experiments had been done. But, the place was in beast control. Sky wasn't going anywhere near there, that was for sure.

She laid her head on the pillow she found. Her last thoughts before falling into a much-needed sleep, were of the possibility of other experiments. Maybe there were, and maybe they died.
