I've been losing left and right on 8's with Chance and it has made me lose my composure more than once. But I found I way to strike back. When an 8 appears, I simply collect my winnings and await the next round. It's that or I lose my winnings altogether.

If a new round begins with an 8, I close the Chance screen and re-open another round a second or two later and the new round will begin another card of a different value. I also discovered early on that attempting to win more than two rounds was next to impossible. Since then, my tactic has been to collect after winning two rounds. This may be a slow way to collect event currency, but it's a heck of a lot less frustrating than losing on the third or fourth round.
