a reclaiming earth roleplay
TRANSMISSION_SENT\\
200 years ago, a cloud of smoke forced man to leave his home. War, a terrible thing, came to Earth and it ended with the dropping of large, nuclear bombs, much like those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki long, long ago.

The year is 2300. The nukes were dropped 2100. Just before that, though, each of the great cities and nations gathered up men and women, young and old, and ushered them into great ships. These ships left the atmosphere with one thing in mind. Survival.

For two hundred years, people have lived in space. The planets nearby, though capable of housing people, didn't have the atmosphere that provided life. Thankfully, the ships could sustain such things as weather, food, and life.

Still, living in space has its drawbacks.

Overpopulation. Inbreeding. Quick spread of disease.

The ships have reached their full potential. The elderly, 100+ year olds, are being forced to give up their lives so that the young can live on in their place. Those who contract an illness or allergies, are immediately put down. Anyone born with a defect or disability, they never make it to age one.

When this whole thing started, about 100 people were selected to take on this life. 100 people from different nations, regions, and walks of life were expected to bring about the future of humanity.

Nearly 1,000 people floated in space. Now, however, the people have reached a number far too large to sustain in ships of steel. 100,000 people float in space. 100,000 people consume the food that is slow growing. There are 90,000 people too many.

Much like the ash that coated Pompeii, those who didn't board the ships died. To prevent radiation poisoning and the potential zombie uprising, those who left haven't returned.

It's been 200 years since anyone last visited Earth. Rumor has it that all the chaos has come to an end. Only, no one wants to go back there to find out it's far from true. Of the 100,000 people in space, a unification was formed. No matter what country's ship you hailed from, your social security number was entered into a drawing. A draft to be exact. Based on country size, a select number of people are chosen to visit earth. People are pulled and forced to visit the planet. Most commit suicide upon discovering that their number has been pulled, but a few of the brave (or perhaps foolish) decide to accept their new found duty and mission.

Each of the separate nations in space agree upon sending these representatives to Earth to scope the place out. Peace has been agreed upon as, in space, there are limited resources and overcrowding will soon be an issue. Earth is really the only chance for survival -- for mankind's survival.

MISSION_ACCEPT\\
For the past five years, you've been training to go to Earth. You know all about the planet and how to survive. Even if you don't want to be there, you've become useful, valuable. An asset to the survival of man and hope.

Boarding the ship to return 'home,' you can't help but feel that this might be your last act as a man. Should you call fail, you know that mankind will eventually burn out and life, at least the life of man, will cease to exist.

Loaded down with weapons, equipped with a face-mask that filters the air, and strapped into a tight-suit, you begin your trip to Earth. When there, you halo jump from your ride and fall to the earth. Between you and the ground, are looming clouds of reddish gray smoke. Things seem bleak but, in the distance, you see blue skies and the sun kissing the curves of the earth.

With hope and a racing heart, you land. And then, your journey begins....
