Let's not forget the Old West wasn't won on salad. With all the cattle rustling, horse thieving, card playing, saloon drinking, low noon showdowns, bank robberies, stagecoach holdups, prostitution, and violence, a town needed a rugged marshall and a few deputies to maintain law and order.
So I am thinking a star badge, some six shooters, a gallows, and a Winchester 1873 might be what is needed.
