The character who starts out a bad guy, but turns out to be good after all and eventually aids the protagonist. Perhaps some sort of nobility or high-ranking official on the side of evil- or so it seems. Really, her husband has been captured by them and she just wants him back, so she does what they say. Eventually, though, she realizes the greater good is more important than one man's life, and returns to the side of the hero.
