Mitch followed obediently, if only because of a lack of strength, and maybe a hint of curiosity. Thaddeus' steps were easy to follow, slow, and with purpose, this was a man who was used to power and position. This was also a very human way of walking. The culture and customs of humans were still strange to Mitch at times, but some things had become apparent quite quickly. Humans were selfish and self-motivated, at least the ones Mitch had met. They cared nothing or very little for their fellow man and it was easy for them to overlook important details if they thought they were right. This may have been an unfair assessment as Mitch only got the chance to see soldier's and masters, but it was what had shaped such a mindset.

It was even more curious to Mitch that Thaddeus would be squandering his money on a "pet" when his house seemed to be in need of much love. The place looked almost run down, more than anything it felt cold, not physically so, but emotionally. Mitch was nudged down a flight of stairs, growling slightly but heading down none the less. Getting down their first gave Mitch the chance to look at the book covers. Knowledge had been important to Mitch when the elven forests still stood, but book smarts did not help you survive in a hostile environment like slavery.

The door clicked shut and Mitch spun around, seeing the two of them now locked in a room together. Thaddeus' wanted to talk but Mitch couldn't help but smirk. Had he not realized it? Mitch pointed to the collar and then made a slicing motion right above it. There would be no conversations while the collar was on, and Mitch could not take it off. Much like the was English speaking Americans stole their grammar from other languages, most humans stole their magic from other cultures. The magic used in Mitch's collars was vampiric in origin, the collar could only be removed by the current owner of the slave.
