I'll start with one thing at a time so as to not overwhelm you, its a good start but it definately needs some work. For just starting off with mene edits, its not terrible.

Firstly, your darkest shade should only ever be used on the outside edge. Otherwise you create way too much contrast where contrast normally wouldn't fall.
