For a moment Oliver put effort into blinking back tears, then gave up, putting both arms around Emmery and nearly sobbing into his shirt. It felt like decades ago, as if he were back in harsher times, a world of gray and beating hearts, his own life still ticking forward and moving a little closer to a natural death every day. In the dark of the world a little rainbow kept him happy and bright, leading others to ask him for his source of contentment, something he'd never give away. Then that rainbow was snuffed out in front of him. Oliver breathed in, shaking a bit. "D-don't leave me, rainbow...."
