Relieved as Alexander was for Ella’s safety, the feeling was short-lived as another creature attached itself around Ella’s ankle, hissing the same “get out” that was hurled toward Alex.
“Get off of her!”
Without a second thought Alex had given the cave-person a hard kick to what he thought to be its wrist and grabbed her hand. He rarely became too violent (preferring to entrap his foes), but when it came to his friends (or his pride) he wasn’t afraid to use his fists or feet to make a point. Ella, in particular, had seen some of his less proud moments when he duked it out with some of their past enemies as well as treated a few of his bruises and cuts whenever he became too banged up to go home. In this case however, these monsters were faster than they were strong.
“We need-“ he looked around for a second before leading her down a random pathway “-to find a way out of here. Do you think there’s a way to get up the mountain? If my hunch is correct, we might be able to find a door to the outside.”
Between all their conversation they were still trying to avoid the ghouls, but hopefully they would be able to shake them off with these last few turns.
