Exactly thirty minutes later, Cain blinked his eyes open. Even the little sleep he got refreshed his body as if he slept an entire night. Used to working on such a schedule, he toned his body to agree with it. Glancing around, he didn't see Nick, so he slipped out of the bed and quickly gathered his things. Belt, pack, boots. In seconds he was at the door searching for curious eyes. Then down the tree he went and without a second glance back, he slipped into the forest.

It wasn't like Nick was a bad guy. Once out in the trees, Cain let his grin free as he tilted his head back to breathe in the open air. Out here he felt alive. Another day, another night. He knew the sun would set soon, but he saw a good slope not long ago where he could build a quick shelter. "Bye Nick. Maybe we'll meet again another day," he whispered to the trees before he hurried away.
