All Ikal sold start as adolescents or adults; newborn and pup stages are
breeding-only. They are sometimes seen during special events.
✘ Sheenai • 'Good' Ikal. Sheenai are those Ikal who have abandoned their heritage, and, guided by the former Princess, are now following a path of kindness. Sheenai live in the Sikulen ruins to the north, and between the crumbling halls they make their homes. Though the humans have long since left the land, Sheenai are continually scavenging new oddities from the ruins. Sheenai are most like human culture due again to Darielle's influence, living in small communal families, and choosing a "career" path (ie hunter or pupsitter) rather than being assigned these roles by Alphonse or by an Alpha.
✘ Vachen • 'Evil' Ikal. Vachen are those twisted souls who never truely left the nightmares, and they are loyal to one man alone- Alphonse, who created them. Vachen live in the shadow of Mt. Varcan. The caves below the mountain house many precious gems, and although the Vachen are not miners, they do have a fondness for pretty rocks. Most pups are born deep inside the mountain where the earth is warm and protected. They do not form packs, and rarely do families stay together once the pups are grown. Should Alphonse give them a task, a group of Vachen may form a "Sect", a temporary group poised for a specific purpose. They will attack a Sheenai on sight, though they will tolerate the presence of the Kaizhar. Occasionally they will mate with the Kaizhar, but this is usually looked down on.
✘ Kaizhar • 'Neutral' Ikal. Those wilder Ikal who have no concern for the squabbles of the Sheenai and Vachen. Really, they want to be left alone in their wilderness. They are by far the most elusive and yet the most common Ikal in the lands, as they do not keep to one area of habitation. They fill in the gap, so to speak, between the north-dwelling Sheenai and the Southern Vachen. Kaizhar are experts at hunting, disguise, and tracking. Theyre built for speed, and can outdistance both other breeds.
