Jake was quiet for a time since Alexis didn't respond with words. He really didn't need---or want---to talk anyway. Not voicing his fears, his anger, letting it all boil inside while he sat with a strange, coldblooded experiment and rocked back and forth slowly, petting his hand through the silken hair. "It's getting late in the day..." He finally muttered, tearing his thoughts away from the people he'd seen in the cages, between angry screams shaking bars and terrified, limp lumps trying to make themselves as small as possible. He didn't want to be them. What had they been enduring? Did Alexis hear, or was the lab somehow soundproofed? Alexis seemed so blissfully unaware of the lower part of the house. That place out of a horror movie. He didn't even seem to remember himself.

"Hey, you want to go in...?" Jake asked, feeling Alexis's skin. He was warm, almost naturally so, like a normal human would be. He didn't know how long it would last but knew serpents could store the heat for a while in neutral temperatures. And in the house, it was warm. Too warm for Jake, but he wouldn't ask that the heat be turned down if it were for Alexis's benefit.
