Trevor sat at his table near the window and glanced at his smart watch. Just thirty minutes until his servants open the doors to the exhibit. He bit into another madeleine and sipped chamomile tea from his cup.

From his window on the fifth floor, he could already see a large crowd of people in his courtyard, chattering excitedly about his private zoo, which opened a mere day in the entire year for all to see. He could see families who brought their children to peer at his rare and exotic animals, as well as caravans parked along the perimeter of the premises with cages or fish tanks, many covered by a fancy cloth. Those caravans were owned by potential dealers looking to sell their creatures to him.

Being a businessman, he of course charged quite the entrance fee for this very exclusive event. All of the people in his courtyard had to go through an RSVP process in order to enter his land in the first place. Not that the price was too steep or deterred the wealthy families and dealers outside his private zoo. The dealers, especially, had to be legitimate for him to even consider letting them in. A successful multi-millionaire such as he could not afford to get in trouble with the law, and he took such great care of his private zoo that he demanded any potential additions to his collection to be clean and healthy.

Using his binoculars, he tried to see what creatures were visible in the caravans that were not covered. His eyes glanced quickly over the crowd, not noticing anything particularly outstanding, when he suddenly paused and looked back at one of the tanks. Something was swimming in it...and at first glance, it had seemed to be a slender marine animal. But upon closer examination...were those human arms? And a human face?
