Why didn't I notice?
How stupid was I never to understand,
The way you effortlessly fixed all the problems,
Made all the nightmares go away,
If just for one day.
Why didn't I see,
Through the facade of calm and control,
That always masked your true emotions.
How easy was it to place all my burdens
Onto your already heavy shoulders.
I should have asked if you were ok.
I should have notice the warnings.
Suddenly it seemed it would be ok again,
Like it was for that moment.
We were together,
Connected by lips pure and true.
My first real kiss.
