You're most likely that rich but mysterious (and probably not that trustworthy) NPC that the heroes have to stay with for a night or two while they sort out their quest. You're not exactly privy to their conversations, but you hear enough, and what you do hear you report to the town's official head, who then passes on the knowledge unexpectedly to the bad guys themselves! Poor heroes; they should have thought twice before talking so loud in your house. xDD;;
