@Damia: Just as you start to search the rowboat a hand grabs you from behind and pulls you over, capsizing the rowboat along the way.
Luckily, you remember you're underwater just before you try to open your mouth to shriek or call for help (whichever one is scarier to behold).
You twist and turn and kick, trying to break free; but, just as you succeed, you realize there's no longer any can of spam in your pocket.
You probably would chase after the thief, but unfortunately you realize that you really really need to rise for air;
and by the time you look for the spam-thief, they're already gone.
And the spam? Well, they must have taken it because it's nowhere in sight.
