It might be overstepping the line, especially since they weren't friends, but a part of him just couldn't help but want to know. "I'm sorry about that. What sort of people were they? Your parents, that is," he asked after a second of hesitation. It made him feel guilty to share such a nice relationship with him mother, although even for him, his family wasn't perfect.
