Night Elf

The air was cool on Vera's skin as she silently moved through the thick forest, heading further and further out of her territory. Smoothing back her dark hair, the elven princess found herself beginning to feel the effects of thick heat that radiated beneath the thick canvas of the forest. Deciding that taking a break would be most beneficial, Vera leaned against a mossy tree trunk and sipped on the water she brought with her. The bladder of an animal, cleaned and crafted for holding water, had been a gift and though it made her uncomfortable to use it, she knew it would be needed for traveling outside the city walls. Though the safety of the castle was a welcoming comfort in such perilous times, Vera couldn't convince herself to always stay inside. Against the protests of her step mother and a few slips of the guards, the night elf has been able to sneak out of the city premises a few times a week. Why she left the castle, no one would really understand. She felt like a caged animal needing to escape, wanting to be free. Wanting to be away from what so many would only dream of having.

Her eyes, the color of a stormy sea, were constantly scanning the surrounding. She knew the dangers of moving so far from the city, knew that the war was raging on and her fellow night elves were out there fighting it. Fighting to keep her city from becoming nothing but ruins. She often wished she could be apart of it. Vera had had training in battle, she learned advanced conjuration magic and had a natural bond with nature that would also aid her in battle. But being the only heir to the throne, her safety has always been top priority.

A snap of a branch brought the elf quickly to her feet, her water pouch dropping to her side where it was tied on. She turned around just in time to dodge the arrow of an orc as it barely missed her head. "Damnit" Her voice came out in a whisper as she prepared herself mentally her battle. The orc growled and withdrew another arrow and taking aim. Vera quickly dodged the arrow once more and with the same amount of speed pulled her ebony bow from her back and lined an arrow up. Upon taking aim, the arrow was released and pierced the orc's shoulder. A growl of pain erupted from his throat and he began to charge. A little shocked that she missed the kill shot, Vera hesitated. The orc tackled her, throwing her body against a large tree. On contact, painful shocks resonated throughout her body, but now was not the time to crumble from pain. She managed to twist her away out of the sharp claws of the orc and scrambled to her feet. She reached for her arrows, but they had been scattered across the forest floor when she fell. Breathing heavily and drawing up what strength she could, the she-elf quickly pointed her right hand out in front of her as a light ball of shades of blue and white began swirling around her palm. And as soon as the ball was there it was gone and in its place was what could only be described as an apparition of a wolf.

"Conjurer!" The orc gasped. He clearly had not expected this. With a menacing growl, the conjured wolf turned, ready to kill. The orc tried to turn to run, but the ghost creature was much to fast. Lunging, the wolf's canine's clamped around the orc's throat. After a loud crack, the wolf dropped the lifeless body of the orc and then disappeared into thin air.

Vera dropped, completely exhausted from the long day of traveling, the heat of the thick canvas, and being bruised up by the orc. She slowly began gathering her arrows and her bow arranging them neatly on her back and began walking again, but after walking only about a mile more she was once again shocked. There was an entire area of the forest that had been.. cleared? Her eyes scanned the area just in time to see the shadow of a figure in the distance. Eyes narrowing and heart pounding, curiosity got the best of her. If there were more orcs, they must be killed. Vera headed off to silently stalk the figure ahead of her.
