Janus was muttering curses after another hour of walking. While the air didn't feel as though the humidity was getting worse, it wasn't getting any better either. In fact, the ground seemed to be getting mushier and mushier, and Its feet kept getting caught in potholes. The force wasn't enough to break Its ankles, but it was still annoying nonetheless. So far the only signs of life It has seen were the occasional squirrel or bird or bug or some other small, unintelligent animal. And the weird plants that kept trying to curl their tendrils around It, only to withdraw sharply upon contact against Its plate-like skin. Again, harmless, but annoying.

In Its annoyance, small sparks were floating off the fire demon's back as It walked, glowing eerily in the air before the general humidity in the area caused them to fade away moments later.

Maybe It should turn back, Janus thought, muttering another curse when It tripped over another root and almost fell over. It didn't look as though there were anything worth discovering in this soggy pit of a forest. One more hour. It would give this venture another hour's chance for something interesting to come up before It would call the whole trip a failure and turn back, chance of running into the hag of a medusa or not.
