Saith always knew her to be pushy and demanding (such things came with being the school president) but this was beyond what he believed. She almost seemed angry, as if nothing could go her way. She came across reckless, a controlled reckless, and edgy. She clearly wanted something and wasn't getting it.

Sinking lower into the chair, his sad eyes turned from her as he sat there twiddling his thumbs. Frankly, she wouldn't be in this situation right now if he didn't cause a commotion in the locker room and if he didn't run into her hidden sanctuary. Riddled with guilt, his face continued to grow weaker, lighter, and sicker. His arm had even begun to throb and when he went to squeeze it, his eyes grew wide with alarm. His sense of touch in that area was quickly fading, a sure-fire sign that if he didn't receive medical attention immediately that he would likely lose a limb.

Thankfully, Mae returned just in time to ease his panic. There was something about seeing her that caused him to smile and lean forward into her. Only, upon discovering that she was empty handed and without a nurse, the beads of sweat and panic came back.

Was this really how he was going to end? He swore he would straighten up and get his act together -- but he never did. Was this his punishment for lying and teasing? Had all his sinning finally caught up to him?

Ears drooping, his large, sapphire orbs looked into hers. They were neither sad nor afraid. If anything, they seemed... distant. Almost as if he knew what was coming and wasn't about to let it mar his cocky pride. Yes, even in defeat Saith refused to look the part.

"Hey," he said when she scrambled to his side, "this isn't your fault." He could tell just by the way she was acting that she was blaming herself. "You warned me, I didn't listen. You can't take any blame so don--"

Before he could finish, Saith stopped to watch her strange gestures. Was she really humming? At a time like this? He was trying to be sincere and she's just singing away! And making his arm glow! And feel warm! A nice kind of warm but still....

WAIT A MINUTE!

The distance in his eyes vanished and became a look of genuine curiosity. Everything about this was magical -- something he didn't see coming. She was sweating but with each push and pull of her powers and his blood, the pain was fading. Soon, the raw skin looked nearly as good as new and he could actually wiggle his fingers again!

A rush of emotions followed. There were so many words he had to say and things he had to do. Oh he could just kiss her! Literally, no one had ever done something like this before and, frankly, kissing her seemed like the ideal way to say thanks.

Er, granted, kissing might lead her into thinking he liked her, which wasn't the case. Or at least that's what he was telling himself now. Nope! There was no way he could or would ever like a miss prim and proper such as she. Still, as she pulled away and spoke of leaving, Saith's hand reached out to bring her back.

That initial touch of reaching back out to her seemed to slow his heart, if not stop it. Time seemed to pause as he was given a chance to once-over the woman who saved him. His blue orbs lost their curiosity and reflected compassion and admiration instead. The way he leaned into her suggested that he was sincere in his actions. And how his lips quivered while falling agape? Well, one could only guess what should come next.

Before she could break free, he was standing all around her. Gingerly, his arms looped around her thin form while his head nuzzled her hair. Closing the space between them, the two now stood chest-to-chest.

His heart was racing, she could certainly feel it. The adrenaline from the rush of magic and living was just pushing him over the edge. Why, if he wasn't careful, he knew he could land himself in a heap of trouble with the woman who literally just saved his arm.

As he held her, the silence and raw tenderness of the moment won him over. Oh how he wanted to kiss her and see where it would lead. Would she jump into his arms and let him take her away? Would most women not swoon as such a passionate moment?

Not wanting to waste another breath of air not pressing her lips, Saith shifted slightly to free his hand. It danced lightly up her arm and soon stroked her jaw. With one move, he could tilt her lips toward his and truly thank the woman.

Lips ajar, he slowly fell into her. A part of him hoped that she would simply close her eyes and drink in the romance.

"Thank you."

A gentle kiss was placed right above her brows, smack-dab in the middle of her forehead. Hands falling off her shoulders, a small side grin tugged at his lips.

Saith didn't get that kiss he wanted. He knew he wouldn't, or rather shouldn't, so he purposely shifted its location. It was no were near as good as it could have been, but knowing full-well that Lacrimae wouldn't fall victim to such seduction, Saith left it sweet and simple.

With a wink, he stepped out into the empty halls of the medical area. And soon, he would vanished outside and go about his usual life, as if none of this even happened.
