Hmmmm, well...it was yes, but i did try alot of tutorials (sadly now most of them have magically disappared) and then practiced practiced practiced.
Opening up a shop on Gaia help me improve alot over the years and I know
even now I still need to improve so yeah it's alot of trial and error.
Uhhh some tips could be uh....maybe pretend when you're pixelling that you
have a light source. (maybe draw a little sun with little light strips coming down) that will help you know where you have to draw the light and shadows. What also may help is maybe turn a lamp or something on in a dark room and see where the light and shadows hit you. Folds are very important in some clothing so maybe look up some different materials of clothing to see the difference.
