The other on the fire escape so casually got under his skin a bit. He wasn't really surprised to see him acting so casual about it, he had obviously done this before, which had been apparent earlier as well. He remained quiet as the other approached him, the look in his eyes made the teen arch a brow. Clever? He was smart yes, came with his life, he had to learn from a young age how to think on his feet and survive. Anything else was not an option, since it most likely would lead to one getting their ass handed to them, or dead. There were plenty out there who would love to take advantage of him, for various purposes.

They wanted to challenge his family, his father. At the same time, they just wanted to say they had stuck it to the family in some way and got away with it. Reputation was a huge thing in this town, one where people could get seriously hurt for pissing off the wrong people. He made no move to step back or anything of the like as the other approached him, holding his ground and keeping his posture confident yet calm. When he spoke his name, it was clear that he had looked through his wallet. Glancing at the black piece of leather as he held it out to him, he made no move to take it back just like that. Did the other seriously think it was that easy? Honestly he would have loved to avoid a fight, but at the same time....

He had handed his umbrella to one of the guards back there, the water from the rain though lighter than before, now fell on his hat and suit. He really either didn't know who he was, or he was still trying to play it cool. Opting for a peaceful end either way, he moved a hand to pluck the wallet from the other's hand. He opened it to make sure that nothing had been taken out of it. He wasn't that foolish to take his word for it, just giving it back after he'd stolen it like that. If he was to naive, he could have possibly gotten all the way home only to discover that it was empty, which would have been useless in the end as well.

"Why target me?" he asked as his eyes remained on the wallet. It was a simple question, might be the deciding choice between letting the other go or something else. He was also kind of curious of what his excuse might be for getting himself into this predicament to begin with. He knew nothing about this man, who now obviously knew his name. It made him wonder what else he might know if anything.
