I get one every year and do not get the flu, but I can't say for sure if I am exposed to the flu every single year. Since I'm going to graduate from nursing school soon, I plan on continuing to get the flu shot every year.
I also have yet to feel ill after getting the vaccine.
The vaccine itself cannot make you sick because there is no live virus in it. What you feel is your immune system working to react to the antigens in the vaccine and likely other viruses or bacteria in your body.
If you get exposed to viruses/bacteria around the time you get your flu shot then it can make you feel sick after your vaccinated D:
