At the sight of Jay coming to the rescue, Pammy had lifted her chin to look up at him, her brown eyes wide with shock and surprise. No one never really ever stood up for her. No one. And the fact that Jay, of all people, was doing it made her feel as if she was supposed to pinch herself, as if it'd wake her up from this crazy dream.

She opened her mouth, about to say how it was fine, that they could have their spot, but she knew it'd be pointless. But not just pointless, maybe even stupid. After all, she did have a right to sit here, since she was here first. It was the fair thing. She closed her mouth after deciding to hold her tongue and forget about her words as she closed her book and put her hands into the grass, unsure of what she should say or do.

When she watched the girls crinkle up their faces and say, "Can't believe you're lowering yourself down to its level," and then proceed to walk away, Pammy tilted her head down, her ginger hair falling to curtain around her face as she looked down at her closed Gatsby book.

"Thank you," she murmured softly to Jay. "You didn't have to do that, y'know," she pointed out as she tucked her hair behind her ears and looked up to him.
