"True," Pearl nodded in response to his friend's mention of kindred spirits. Ariel and Animus were both "kindred" in a way. There were others who related to different pieces of life ... but no human had become so close. Blinking uncomfortably, Pearl watched as the other male readied the tea.

Pearl sat and listened in silence, his green eyes briefly lingering on Peridot before he focused on his drink. Sipping it carefully, the silver-haired guardian added a bit of sugar before leaning back in his chair. He didn't look completely at ease, but ... he was trying.

Hearing Peridot speak of how he'd struggled made Pearl's brows raise in surprise. It had been difficult for him? For some reason, it was nearly difficult to believe. Then he spoke of seeing the world differently.

That was it - that's what made this entire existence difficult. Nothing was the same - not even the air. Everything was ... murky. It wasn't as colorful, nothing was as fresh or full of life. Now that Peridot had said it, Pearl realized that's what he'd been sensing in the emotions of those around him as well. It was nice to have it put into words.

"The people follow the landscape,"
Pearl whispered quietly, his gaze falling to his tea. "They don't listen to the light as often nor as clearly as they should. It seems to be clouded to them; they no longer recognize the truth even when it's presented to them." This applied to so much more than the humans themselves. The guardian set his cup aside, nodding in agreement with everything the green-haired man was saying. Humans were more interesting in self-perseverance than aiding others.

Pearl slowly sighed, looking spent. How hopeless it all seemed. Like a drop of ink in a glass of water, darkness was spreading. Running a hand through his hair, Pearl's markings pulsed with a light silvery glow. Yes, it was good they were no longer in the public eye. "There's more to heal than their physical bodies," he said quietly. "The mental and emotional state is out of balance. It hurts more to heal them than to turn a blind eye to their physical suffering. I can understand why they're so ... distant." This revelation sounded ... so unlike him, even to Pearl. He continued anyway, as it was obvious that he hadn't given in and stopped trying to help the humans. "I fear it will destroy me before there is any amount of lasting change in this one city, let alone a bigger picture."

As Eliana flirted with Bazel, Kaname's slight smile stayed in place. It was his natural expression - a slight upturn of the corners of his mouth. At the mention of seeing the shadowed woman soon, the youth's duel-colored eyes flickered to her face with a fond expression. "Soon," he said, tilting his head and returning her smile.

That was when he'd lead Bazel toward Hakumei. Kaname's confusion remained, and his young features were marred by a frown as he paused. Ceiling? He could see his twin's bloody form bound by shadow and blood, the warmth of it dripping down....

Kaname blinked as his heart began to race at the thought. He needed to see Hakumei. Now.

At that moment, he heard his father's voice. "Don't look so confused....if the roof is the ceiling then so be it....the world is no fun when you see it the same way as everyone else..."

Feeling a comfortable weight rest on his head, Kaname let out a breath and smiled slightly. "Yes father," he tilted his head, pleased with the contact he was receiving from Bazel. Obviously the older male sensed his need to be close. Yes, Kaname preferred it, but there was some kind of need that he gave off ... and Bazel was particularly good at spotting it.

The magenta-haired youth looked to the elevator and blinked as though things made sense. In his dream, Haku had been trapped above him. In reality, he was on the roof. Kaname laughed suddenly, a surprising sound full of relief. He gave no explanation as the elevator moved up.

They arrived moments later, and the rubble near the pillar made Kaname's yellow and pink eyes hurriedly sought Hakumei. Upon spotting his twin, the youth's smile widened. He felt whole around the other. Just seeing him made everything feel more alive and worth living for. Kaname stayed beside Bazel a moment longer, leaning against him until he spoke. Kaname met his brother's look, confusion in his own expression at the odd comment from their creator.

"What?"
Kaname frowned slightly, but then brightened at the mention of dinner. "Something good this time, father?" He moved toward his twin, reaching for Haku's shoulder. He took hold of his brother's shirt, though it was a fond action instead of a commanding one. "Steak?" Kaname moved to lean closer to Haku, though also prompted they both move toward Bazel. "A burger?" At the mention of more food, his expression grew more animated. "Dessert?"
