Gage took the violin and fingered over the strings and the wood, getting to know their feel. Finally, he positioned it and started a quiet melody that bellied his hesitation. Letting the notes wander, he picked up a violin concerto that he played for a minute before letting the bow slid away from the strings. "It's a good violin," he murmured after a few seconds of silence. A part of him felt self conscious, but he felt comfortable when playing and that leaked over now, adding to his confidence.
