In spite, Rose threw her arm out, knocking the bottle of wine to the ground, where it clattered and spilled its contents on the floorboards. Never in her life would she had dared to act out like that, but what did good manners do in this situation. Did he think his command would do anything? She was a princess, he was but a brute who held no power other than on this lousy vessel. But was that true? While she was here she was at his mercy, and he didn't seem very merciful at this point. And Ariel? Well she seemed to be handling herself just fine with the brute who had nearly broken her wrist.

After her outburst she returned to her silent protests. Her hands folded demurely in her lap, her eyes cast downwards and totally still. She looked at her wrist, swollen and red, a faint bruise already appearing. Hopefully they had kept dresses with longer sleeves, so she could hide the ugly mark on her pale flesh.

"Ask missy over there, she knew righ' where it was on the ship. Sorry, but that bottle was long finished off." Gerard grinned at his captain, it was no surprise there was none left with him involved. If anyone wanted to keep any drink for themselves, they needed to make sure he didn't know about it.

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Ariel's disgust. "What?" Gerard asked, his mouthful of food. "You weren't eating it, sweetheart. You women and your peckish appetite. I'll not let a good meal go to waste." He laughed at that and grabbed more food from the center of the table, filling his plate once more. Despite the amount of food he packed away he was still fit, his torso rather muscled from the hard work on a ship. His eyes widened at the princess's little show of anger. She wasted a good bottle of wine, and also defied an order from Clark, both things would not go well, he was sure of that.

He was entirely oblivious to the fact that his voracious attack on the meal had put strain on his wound, the white bandaged marred by a bright spot of red.
