The method of dark outline with lighter base only shows gloss/shiny surface. not SEE THROUGHness. There is a big difference.
Transparent and Translucent is not necessary gloss/shiny. Transparent/translucent, see through means it can see through. Not define by shade but more on shape. You have to know what is happening BEHIND the surface.
