He let his hand rest on her shoulder a moment longer, she was soaking wet and dirty. It made him grimace slightly, she was probably at risk of catching a cold if she remained in such soaked garments for an extended period of time. There was a slight hint of annoyance in his features as he withdrew his hand, readjusted the bag over his shoulder, then picked the girl up.
Animal ears twitched slightly atop her head, but her hair was so matted around them that he wasn't quite sure what type of animal they were, but it didn't really matter, all manner of creature found their way to this realm between realms. He lifted her almost effortlessly, in that classic princess style with an arm supporting her back and one under her knees. Letting her head rest against his right shoulder.
If she stirred now, it wouldn't matter, he had no intention of putting her down until he reached the tavern. It wasn't too far, and he was confident that the body heat that emitted from him would help keep her warm, even in her soaked clothing. He held to the girl firmly but gently as he began to move towards the tavern.
