  • Fear the myriad of typos and how terrible this is. It’s an assessment task, and written at 3am.
Also, I completely forgot to capitalize half the ‘Its’ in there.
    FAIL.
Note: I don't write. I draw. Hence why this is utter suck. But I like it never the less.

    ----------

The body shifted from its position in the darkness, coming to life, as the world outside its home seemed to die and sink away into the night.

Its surroundings were dark - no light penetrated its world. Yet, in the vast cavern of shadow, forms began to stir and the dimness sprang to life and an invisible ocean of movement and sound. Bodies moved in chaotic confusion, colliding into each other, harsh voices sounding annoyance and frustration at the intrusion.

It listened to its fellow dwellers shout their anger and impatience at the disorganization, before launching itself into the fray. Bodies rushed past as it moved toward the vague shimmer of light dancing in the distance. Others seemed to catch sight of the luminescence, simultaneously turning, and rushing forwards. Hundreds of hard, leathery wings whipped past it as it struggled to keep pace with its impatient fellows. As one, they hurdled towards the faint source of light, the shinnying brightness increasing as they rushed forward.

And then, the world was light, and shining and all around it. Its senses came to life, hearing the echo of its fellows while they bicker and shout. The smaller sounds of the out side began to bleed into its awareness as it moved away from the distractions of the chattering mass. The sound of wind filled its ears, rushing past as it pushed further into the night, small sounds of insects and plant life catching occasionally, distracting its attention and sending it off in a new direction.

It continued on, long ago loosing its fellow creatures to the darkness, their cacophony of high pitched nattering forgotten, replaced with the gentle lull of the sounds of the evening. As it moved, its wings beat slowly, gliding mostly, with no particular destination known, and no regard for time. It went on like this for what seemed like forever, pausing now and again to prey on a fellow flying creature, it’s small, pointed teeth making short work on the fragile bodies in its grasp.

The Night went on, the silvery eye sitting high in above, full and illuminating, giving the world an eerie glow. A gentle wind blow through trees, the delicate fruit blossoms fell and spiraled off into the unknown. The sound of beating wings and soft murmuring lost in the evening’s own conversations.

It paid little regard to the strange simmering of the moon against the water was it sailed across the currents above the glassy surface. It’s only concern with what lay ahead, and the possibility of a destination. It muttered softly to its self, sending small sounds out to the night, and listening to them return moments later. The world appeared empty to it, nothing in its surrounds to reply or respond. It paused for a moment, wings working to faster now.

It turned suddenly, its body arching and wings contorting in an effort to keep up with its mind. It moved quickly now, its previous lazy pace forgotten, and destination decided. Wings rose and feel with vigor as it sped towards its end. Small noises escaping its mouth, realization voiced in its cries.
The silent giants and sweet smelling bodies it had passed previously now appeared oppressive and dangerous, the fingers of sun light which crept through the air causing It to panic as It pushed further on.
The voices of the others could be heard now, their shrill calls pulling It towards them. They were more sedate now, bodies fluttered through the air, nimbly maneuvering between the plant growth which hid the entrance to their home.

It approached them and Its home cautiously, nervous of returning, but impatient to be in the comfort of safety. It feared the response of those it had left, wondering if they would welcome it back, or simply refuse the one that had deserted Its family.

The night was ending, the threatening claws on day had already taken hold of the darkness, pulling it back, replaced with blinding light and the thread of danger. Many had already returned to the security of the home, with those left beginning to shift their bodies towards the entrance.
It hovered, nervousness holding it back. A small sound to its side sent it into a tangle of wings and noise, body propelled forward by instinct and fear. It took refuge in side the vast cavern of Its home, it’s blind eyes squinting to see the response of Its fellows. None stirred, or replied to its questioning murmurs – most already at rest, and those not to exhaust to care.

It relaxed within its self, deciding it was home, and safe. A feeling of peace washed of It, leaving Its body tired and demanding rest. It shifted, wings folding softy around its self, and head tucking slightly into Its fur. Darkness surrounded Its mind, as light threatened to break through into the eternal darkness of the cavern. The events of the night all but forgotten, and Its memories being clouded by dreams of a world of colours.
