Crescentia sighed as she dragged her stuff along with her, having her trunk in one hand and her owl cage in the other. Her barn owl, Ira, happily chirped as they were on their way. “Have another fun year, Cres!” Her mother said, kissing Crescentia’s forehead. Crescentia had actually been early for the train, so there was a bunch of time before the train would be going off. She had woken up early and everything just to make sure she wasn’t late, and now she realized she was early. Oh, well, it would just have to work, her parents decided to leave Crescentia, not worried about anything, and this would give Crescentia time to check the Daily Prophet for more of the disappearances of the muggles and mudbloods. She knew that something was going on, even if her father wasn’t telling her anything and her mother kept saying it was nothing to worry about, there had to be something to worry about. Not all the time is the world filled with nice sweet people, there were people out there that were just the opposite, mean and sour. Yes, Crescentia was thinking along the lines of candy, that was just her way of thought, especially since she really was craving something sweet at the moment.

Cres made her way for the train getting to be one of the first ones to pick a compartment she was really excited. She set everything where they were supposed to go and then grabbed out a few things from her trunk. A few editions of the Daily Prophet that she was able to find, a bit of parchment, quill and ink, so she could do her own bit of studying. She was trying to see what was going on, by using the information in the Daily Prophet. She couldn’t really get this done with other people so right now she was doing her best to trying figure out all the Muggles and Mudbloods that were killed and how they had died, really it wasn’t anything that anybody was supposed to take as anything but serious, as they all seemed to actually be natural deaths, they were just happening a lot more than they were supposed to. She was really curious about this, and wanted to know what was going on.

-----------------------------------------
Lucian Shaner stood there looking around the place, watching everyone else swarm into the train station like cockroaches. He sighed, not really caring about going to school, he really didn’t excited about it like everyone else did. He would rather just not go at all, but still he was forced to go by his parents that were standing behind him talking to a few of the other parents. Lucian just rolled his eyes and without even a look in his parent’s direction, he walked towards the train. He nodded at a few of the people that had greeted him, but really he just wanted to get onto the train and leave. Of course things couldn’t be that easy for him, there was someone that had decided to stop him and start a conversation about the beginning of the school year.

Normally this kid would have been yelled at to get in the way, but while his parents were around and a crowd to actually see what was going on, Lucian would think better to just confront him later about this event. Lucian figured that he would find a compartment to sit in later if he was stuck listening to this person jabber on and on about what might happen this year. Lucian of course answered back as he pretended to act nice, that most people were just not used to. He could tell that his cat Phantom was still around, the kitten had been fallowing him for about a week now, the thing was still small and looked like just a black ball of fluff. Lucian was actually able to see Phantom in the coner of his eyes zig zagging through the other people around until Lucian called him over.

Lucian was supposed to have Phantom in the kennel he was holding, but he decided that the cat should be free unless it did something wrong. Phantom was allowed to walk around until the cat started to do something bad or was getting on Lucian's nerves.

Diantha arrived at Platform 9 3/4 with her cousin and uncle. Their mothers and her father were working and weren't able to take them to the station. Plus, the cousins and their fathers were secretly worried about the sudden increase in muggle disappearances; though their mothers knew nothing about them. They'd be pissed when they found out they weren't being told the truth, but for now it made Diantha and Razzel feel better that they were kept in the dark. With them being muggles, they wanted to protect them from the darker aspects of the wizarding world. They just saw the magical and useful aspect of it, not the dark and dangerous part. Their husbands wanted to keep it that way for as long as they possibly could.

They arrived at the platform a little later than they had originally expected, they had trouble finding a place to park their car. They had to rush through Kings Cross, hurrying past the muggles who gave them glares for bumping against them in the crowded station. As they made their way onto the platform, they began to see old friends. A few of the members of the house quidditch team waved at her when they saw her. She was one of the beaters. Diantha separated from her cousin and uncle and went to load her luggage onto the Hogwarts Express.

After doing so, she set out to find a compartment to sit in. She found that many of them were partly filled with other students. She could see a small black kitten running about. It was cute but most of the other students weren't watching where they were going. As it approached her, she snatched to pick it up. It was soft and cuddly in her arms. "Where is your owner?" she asked it, scratching it behind its ears, looking for whose it could be.

----------------------------------------
Razzel watched his cousin disappear into the crowd. It was just like her to take off and do her own thing. There were a few Ravenclaws in the crowd who waved at him, but he stayed to say good-bye to his father. The spoke a few short words, but nothing of the disappearances, not here. It wasn't the place. Razzel grabbed his trunk and the cage with his owl, Dren. He was asleep with his head beneath his wing. He stored his trunk on the train, then entered it.

He walked up and down the corridors, looking for a decent place to stay. He would probably need to save a seat for Diantha. The girl usually forgot to save herself a seat and ended up lurking in the corridors or taking his spot. As much as she irritated him, they were practically siblings and several students had mistaken them for just that, even though they were completely different in personality. Teachers usually tried to get him to control her, but that failed most of the time, she did what she wanted.

He finally found a compartment with just a single girl in it. She was in his year, he recognized her from classes Gryffindors and Ravenclaws had together, he thought her name was Crescentia. "Do you mind if I join you in here? Everywhere else is mostly full and I need to save a seat," he asked, sitting down. He noticed that she looked like she was doing homework of sorts. It seemed a little early in the school year for that, but who was he to talk, he planned on starting to read one of his new schoolbooks on the train ride. At least until Diantha decided to show up.

Crescentia leaned against the window of the train, she was waiting for the train to just start going but keeping up this writing was starting to make her hand cramped. She had liked the silence as nobody had asked to be in her compartment yet, since she took one in the back just to avoid that problem. She never really sat with her friends on the train, she found it better to just stay on her own when she was on the train, since she normally fell asleep or started to do her own thing. When she got to school she was a bit more like she was supposed to be like, her usual upbeat self, she just liked to keep the time on the train to herself. She liked it actually, she would rather be like that anyways.

Cres had been really excited for the fact that she was going to try out for the other beater role this year since her brother had graduated from hogwarts. That was the only reason she wasn't on the quiditch team and the fact that she wanted to be a beater and her older brother had taken the other beater and another gryffindor had taken the other beater, so Cres just had to wait. She was determined to take the spot of the beater this year, and not because her brother had been the beater before her. Cres didn't want it to be easy to get the spot she wanted to told what she was doing wrong and she wanted to be told up straight if she wasn't a good player.

Cres sighed she looked back at her parchment and started to write once again figuring that she should just keep going since her hand was just going to keep getting cramped anyways. She would just have to deal with it. She looked down at her stack of daily prophets, she had just started on the first one and the deaths already seemed to be a lot to handle. She just hoped that nothing happened to her parents while she was gone or even to her but mostly she was worried about her parents. She then heard the door of her compartment open, so much for being alone, she looked up at the guy, she recognized him from Ravenclaw but that was it. "Yes." She muttered and nodded and went back to her parchment.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Lucian looked around realizing that he couldn't find phantom and got up, he then saw Phantom walking around. A girl had then grabbed the cat when he was about to walk over and call for his cat once again. He growled and walked up behind the girl, hearing her say "Where is your owner?" Lucian rolled his eyes, and looked down at the girl.

"The owner is right behind you, now if you don't mind let my cat down. She doesn't like to be held by people she doesn't know.' Lucian muttered. He didn't even really care if the girl freaked out. It was pretty odd for Lucian to be worrying about a cat since he would go out and look for a fight and yet he now seemed to be the owner of this small black kitten that was just didn't seem to fit his personality. Then again who really knew Lucian's personality? He just seemed to be around with his friends all the time and seemed to always be bored or at least look that way. The only time anyone saw even something that seemed like emotion was when he was out fighting with someone.

Most people had no idea which was okay since Lucian didn't share it with many people or anyone for that matter. The only one that actually knew why Lucian acted the way he did was the proffessors and they wouldn't even say a thing and really couldn't catch him in the act of Lucian's trouble making. Of course his father would know the reason easily but it was the fact that his father was kept in the dark about what he was doing at hogwarts that he thought his son never acted out a day in his life.

Diantha jumped slightly when a voice appeared behind, asking for the kitten. She whirled quickly around to see who it was. She was surprised to see a taller boy standing there. Then again, she was a little short for someone her age. There weren't many people in her year that were shorter than her. She looked from the kitten to the boy, amazed that it would belong to him. The kitten looked as though it should belong to a small first year kid.

She glared up at the boy, she didn't like the tone he had used. "Well if I hadn't picked her up, she would have been trampled by someone. She was almost stepped on," she exclaimed. The kitten wasn't struggling, so she made no movement to put the cat down. In fact, she started scratching it behinds its ear, making it start purring. The boy, she recognized from her year though in Sytherin, though his name escaped her at the moment. Like most Gryfindors, she wasn't all buddy-buddy with Sytherins, in fact there wasn't one she was especially fond of. After all, she hadn't bothered to learn any of the names of the ones in her year, which now was not the best thing.

She knew that she should put the cat down, or at least given her back to him, but the trouble-making part of her stopped her. Also, she found the kitten to be cute and didn't want to let it get hurt. It wasn't good pet ownership to let such a small kitten roam about with so many people who could step on it.

--------------------------
Razzel didn't mind the silence of the car, in fact it was kind of nice for a change. His house was always loud and busy, so he appreciated the silence when he could get it. Diantha was always loud when she met up with him and while he didn't mind it, it was hard to get reading done when he wanted to. He liked that Crescentia was also working. It seemed that it caused other people to not want to enter the compartment. Just in case anyone else did enter it, he put his bag on the seat next to him to save it.

He pulled out one of the new spell books, The Standard Book of Spell, Grade 5, and began to read. There were some interesting things they'd be learning that year. There were also the O.W.L.s this year and he wanted to get as much of a heads start on studying for them as he could. He knew that this year was going to be difficult and he already had plans to look into the muggle disappearances. Those two things were going to keep him more than busy enough for the year. He was glad he wasn't on the quidditch team. That took up way too much time in his opinion. He was a fan, he just had no desire to play it.

After a little while, the scratching of the quill on the parchment was the only noise in the compartment. Razz's curiousity grew. 'What could she be working so hard on? There wasn't that much summer homework,' he thought. Then again that could be possible. He knew that if he hadn't prodded Diantha to do her own homework when he did, she'd be doing it on the train to school, like did after the summer her family when on vacation. Their families lived close together and spent a lot of time together as well.
