Alright, so I like theatre. It's a lot of fun and I hope to do more plays when I get older. But in our school, most people in theatre who know me don't like me. I've never done anything to them before, but they don't like me because I'm not sophisticated or get their smart jokes. They see me as obnoxious and loud because I hang out with the weird, anime-loving nerds. I truly don't care what they think about me, but if they do talk about me, I'd like it if they'd tell me in my face so I have a good reason to punch them.

Anyways... I have a few good friends who are active in the theatre department. One of them is an officer in the theatre club. She had just told me recently that I have almost enough points to get initiated into the club. I have been in two plays and have gone to some work days to earn me those points. Now I had no clue, so I was very surprised to know this.

I'd love to join another club, but I know I'm going to face some hostile members who hold lots of power in the club (few people I know who don't like me are officers) . But I have friends in that club too and I really wanna hang out with them.

So, should I join even though people hate me?

I think you should go for it if you love the theater, you can't let other people sop you from doing what you love :D

Silitha is right you should join, and maybe if those people got to know you better they might not hate you as much.

Join, get more experience. Even if you get cast as "Girl #2" you'll have seen things from behind the scenes.

Also you should check into local community theatre, if you're really interested in it, beyond school.

Joining sounds like a good idea. I mean, better to hang out with your friends and experience something new, even if you have to deal with some people who don't like you. You sound like a pretty cool person to me. Don't let their snooty behavior bug you. :3

Join!! If you love it, and you've got friends already, why not? I wished I had, and I was really regarded as annoying. If anything, it'll teach you how to deal with people you don't like in the same group- in work you may have to do the same thing.
Who knows? Maybe they'll get to know the real you and change their minds! :D

If you find yourself not enjoying it though, don't be afraid to quit. No need to make yourself miserable just to prove a point. And after all, you joined to have fun!

You're going to run into people who don't like you no matter what you do so, just try to ignore those people and join. Keep with your friends in the club and you'll be fine. If it's something you really want to do, don't let a few nasty people stop you.
