I used to come home from school all the time to catch reruns of this years ago. It was a big part of my childhood when I did watch it, it prepared me in sense for when I was going into junior high and high school.

It was the story of Kevin Arnold, the all American teenage boy. The series was first set in 1968, Kevin was just around the age of 11/12/13 and he lived in the everywhere suburbia with his bully of a brother Wayne and his hippie sister Karen. The series followed Kevin all the way up to 1972 I believe, following him in the everyday struggles of being a teenager and dealing with the batch of firsts (first kiss, first car, first day of high school/junior high) that comes with it. Throughout the series he falls head over heels for Winnie Cooper, the girl next door he seems to never be able to get. His best friend Paul and Winnie are throughout the whole series.

I loved this series growing up. Watching episodes today are like a flash of what I had a few years back. It really makes me think about life. There is no other series like this that portrays everyday life like this. Unfortunately, the series never made it to DVD due to copyright issues with the show's soundtrack (there was a hell of a lot of music in each episode). One day though, I hope it does come to DVD.

Anyone remember this show?

I don't actually know much about it, but I have sat and watched it quite a few times in the evening and enjoyed it. ^^

I almost want to say that I did watch it when I was younger, but I really don't remember, though I do recognise the people in it. :P I bet my parents watched it though. xD

I expect you did see it when you were younger, Springy, it was shown in the UK for years. I catch it occasionally on Freeview now and it's very sweetly nostalgic seeing it again.

I use to watch that show...but to tell the truth I never really liked it. I'm not even sure why I watched it. But I don't remember a whole lot about it.

They only showed a couple of episodes on TV that I managed to catch and I remember it pretty well because the show was really good at depicting real life situations and showing what morals can be learned from mistakes you did growing up. The TV series was something my parents watched more than I did considering it was something from their childhood more than it was from mine.

I don't really recall many of the characters but the episode I probably remember most is the one when he had to take a math test and his teacher set up extra classes for him promising to teach him. They grew to have quite a close relationship. Kevin was disappointed when the teacher didn't show up for some of those classes and handed in a blank exam paper to spite him and in the end it showed that the teacher never attended those classes because he had to get some kind of cancer treatment in another town. And in the end, it showed that the teacher had passed away from cancer and I couldn't imagine how Kevin must have felt as the last thing he did was spite such the teacher who was there for him :( This was definitely the most touching episode I remember of all. I cried a lot after watching this.

Oddly enough, I saw about 2 episodes of Wonder Years. I was even the right age, but my parents hated the show with a passion so I didn't get to watch it. :)

Why did your parents hate it? My parents really loved it even believing that Kevin was living the right teenager's life at that time. I believe they would sit through a marathon of it if they could... ^^"
