I hate to say it, but it seems now adays those of us who love the classics are indeed a dying breed.

Most people I know have not even heard of half of my favourites, the most distressing being Supertramp. I hadn't been listening to them as of late, until I heard that awful new r&b/hiphopish/whatever song on a music station my sisters were watching which used excerpts from the song Breakfast In America, often painfully mislabeled as "Take A Look At My Girlfriend". So now I'm binging on the lovely band.

My father loves classic rock, so I grew up largely on music from his generation, rather than my own.

I'm sure most people are familiar with the classics from the radio and movies : Breakfast In America, Bloody Well Right, Take The Long Way Home or the Logical Song, though they may not be able to place them by name or band.

So, any other fans out there? =3 And do you have a favourite song?

One of mine is definitely Free As A Bird, which, when I mention it, people often mistake for Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynrd, a song I adore, incidentally. xD;

Awwww, I love them. I remember when they were on the radio alot and DJ's trying to be funny would refer to them as "The band named after my ex-wife"
Favorite Supertramp song for me would have to be:

THE LOGICAL SONG
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful,
a miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily,
joyfully, playfully watching me.
But then they send me away to teach me how to be sensible,
logical, responsible, practical.
And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable,
clinical, intellectual, cynical...........

(etc)

Haha, they're hardly ever played on the radio here now. </3

I love the Logical Song. X3 Though you might wanna edit your post, as posting full lyrics aren't allowed. >3> Perhaps link to them? ^^

They're from the 70s onward.
Ah.. the creators of
"Give a little bit".
Geniuses.
The only songs I could stand
were: "Bloody Well Right",
"Breakfast in America", and
"Rudy".

I recently got into Supertramp. My love of Classic Rock started when I was VERY young with Rush and Marillion.

My favorite Supertramp songs as of yet are The Logical Song and Bloody Well Right. <3

I love them. Though, I do have to say, they have an awkward name. I love their song Bloody Well Right. It kind of takes me back to that time, the 70s.

OMG! I have two Supertramp stories.

Okay 1. My parents were on vacation in Canada. My mother heard come from another table: "That's what I love about Supertramp, they're just so deep." and she burst out laughing.

2. I used to have an electric blanket. So one night it was on too high and I dreamt I went to Hell. I was there and the flames were there and the devil and all that and suddenly I heard this music. I was like, what is that? Is that <someother70sgrouplikethisordanfogelburgorsomethin gbutiforgetnow>? And I'm listening and trying hard to hear, and it was The Logical Song. And it just kept getting louder and louder and the flames just kept getting higher and higher until they consumed me. Then I woke up and I got out of bed and went over to my cd collection and traced my fingers over the spines giggling, happy that there was other music in the world besides Supertramp. So yeah, happy ending.

The only Supertramp song I've heard is "Goodbye Stranger". We had to memorize and recite it in my tenth grade English class, so we listened to it at the beginning or end of class everyday for about two weeks. It's a good song, though. My sister and I really liked it.
