THERE is a reason you cannot exit.
THERE is a story to discover.
THERE are new areas to unlock.
THERE may be a way out if you don't die.
THINK of this as "Saw" without the gruesome puzzles and twisted mind games.
The Description
http://z.about.com/d/queens/1/0/X/as...k_building.jpg
Situation: You are currently asleep. You're trapped in an abandoned rooming house and emptied antique store. You've done something wrong in your past, so perhaps that's the reason you're here. It's been rumored that a ghost haunts the building. It's up to you to found out if that's so, and how to get out.
Setting: Present-day. The city doesn't matter because you can't get to it. The time doesn't matter because none of the clocks work, the calendars are outdated, and all of your ways of communications and other electronics have been removed. This isn't a fantasy world. Everyone is human. 100%. You can have paranormal abilities [i.e., the sixth sense] if you like.
First floor: The store
The dim door glass is now boarded up with hard wood. You see the "Yes, We're Open" side of the store sign. The windows are not boarded, but they're all black. Not from dust, not from paint... hm. There are large black and white tiles creating a checker pattern on the floor. They haven't been sweeped or shined in ages. They've cracked and lost their grip. There are wooden chairs and metal chairs scattered around, about two wooden tables and a desk, but otherwise it's rather empty. Straight to the back of the room from the front door is a small hallway. A door to your left shows a small dingy bathroom: rotting water, moldy rings in the toilet, rat droppings in the corner, collapsing porcelain sink whose drain still runs, but its faucet squeaks when turned on. It doesn't run hot water. The door to the right opens to the stairs. There's a naked light bulb and pull-chain, but there's no electricity, so who knows if the light's blown. The stairs are wood, creaky, worn. The walls are dirty with hand smudges parallel to the incline of the steps. There's no rail. About 20 steps and you've left the first floor.
Second floor: The owner's neighbors
Eight rooms. You walk up the stairs and see a turn to your left to see the first door. It's the bathroom. Stand-in shower. Olive green curtain. Dingy white porcelain. Same with the toilet and sink. These faucets still work, same with the water: always cold. Dead roaches, big and small inhabit the corners of this small tiled room, as well as the toilet water and the sink. Continuing into the hallway (left from the stairs, right from the bathroom) are eight doors. At the end of the hallway is a rotting telephone table with a black rotary phone on a tinged lace cloth under it. There's a phonebook from 1991 on the shelf underneath. A window sits above it with faded burgundy curtains. If you open them, you'll see a boarded window, but it wouldn't matter if they weren't because you'd only see the brick wall of the next building anyway. The dark wood floor has typical scratches and scuffs. There's a mat at the first door on the left. The stairs upstairs are right next to it. The white scuffed door is scratched with a golden sticker that says "Office" on it in black capitalized letters. It has one of those old-fashioned keyholes where you can see through it. The seven other doors have more modern keyholes; there's no point putting your eye to it. It's the kind that sits in the doorknob and is locked by the turn-latch from the inside. They are a teak-colored wood with gold numbers on them: 3, 5, and the shadow of the number 7 on the last one on the left; 2, 4, 6, 8 on the doors on the right. Doors 7, 4, and 6 are locked from the inside.
Third floor: The tenants.
There's a door in front of these stairs. It has the typical door marks: heel marks, scratches by the door, at the bottom, smudges on the edge. The round knob is brass. It has one of those old-fashioned keyholes where you can see through it. Again, the bathroom meets you before you finish turning the corner from the stairs. It's just the same, just as bad, only the water doesn't run up here. The doors in the hallway are a sort of teak color. They have gold numbers on them: 9, 11, 13, 15 on the left; 10, 12, the shadow of 14 on the wood, and 16 on the right. The number 14 must have fallen off and never been replaced. These doors have the more modern keyholes; no use putting your eye to them. Every room (there are eight) here has a naked old mattress, dark wood headboard, dark wood vanity with a mirror, small drawer, and wicker bench, and finally a dark wood dresser with four drawers. Rooms 9, 13, and 12 are locked from the inside.
Fourth floor: Hmm.
There's a door in front of these stairs. It's locked. The round knob is brass. You can feel cold air running from under the door.

Please post AT LEAST every other day. Don't slow us down with your boring real life. lol if you're going to be gone for longer, let us know, and have your character go back to sleep.
There is glass is some parts of the building, but there is some magic or sorcery keeping them intact and you inside. You can attempt to break your way out, but you will not get out until I say you can. The only way out without my permission is death.
Although it may not happen often, be prepared for your character to die, especially if it's a rowdy one. You can create up to four characters at a time. As one dies, another one can be created.
A day runs all week. It ends some time between Friday and Sunday, starts sometime around Monday or Wednesday. It's hard to tell since there's no sunlight let in and no working clocks or watches, but your character should get sleepy by Sunday, unless he's an insomniac.
Exploring & Discovering
If you wish to unlock something or your character wants to inspect something closely, end your post with ellipses (. . .) for instance:
"Denise saw the Office door and the warded lock. She was the curious type, so naturally she put her eye to the keyhole. . ."
I will then explain what you see. Don't worry, I'm online very often, so you shouldn't have to wait long. I can't just lay all the clues out there to tempt you to guide your puppet in its direction.

Character Bio
[color=your character's posting color]
Who am I?
How long have I lived? I'm hoping for more than just teenagers.
What is my vice, my dirty little secret? Unlike my character, you must answer this.
What do I look like? Description is fine, but if you have an image please use it.
What have I done? This is your history. Again, you must answer.
Why am I stuck in here? Rhetorical question. You can reflect on it as you RP. If you think of a reason you like and want included in the story, PM it to me, and perhaps I will.
