And to post on-topic:

I like SOME sushi, but I'm not fond of fish in general, so I stick with pretty basic stuff. Cucumber rolls, California rolls, Spider rolls. XD I'm such a sissy when it comes to new foods. XP

My fiance and I went to a sushi place on valentines day. I never tried sushi before so I was a little reluctant to try it. It was actually pretty good ^_^ I really liked the smoked tuna roll and I can't really remember what else I tried. I do remember that the other sushi I tried was really salty! I'm not afraid of sushi anymore though and I would totally eat it again, as long as it's prepared properly of course!

properly prepared is important. my friend gets sick even looking at sushi because she bought some from a store (it was prepackaged) and she got food poisoning!

Yeah you really have to be careful with that kind of stuff. Fresh is best.
And you have to remember that it's Raw fish...so it's even easier to have bad bacteria on it...since they aren't cooked off.
Eating anything raw is something you do at your own risk. It's written at the bottom of almost any restaurant menu I've ever seen.

And a good rule of thumb for those packaged sushi plates you can get at stores, is that if it's early in the day it should be okay. They're generally made fresh in the morning so if it's after I'd say about 3 pm...then it's really a shot in the dark attempting to eat that stuff.

yeah, i just prefer to go to some restaurant where i can see them make it. there was one in a big mall where i live, and you can see everything that goes on. aaaand it was delicious! i just dont really trust the sushi already made and packaged...

Sushi bars are a lot of fun to go to. Heck anywhere you can watch them prepare your food is usually fun.
When I'm craving good japanese food I love to go to the steakhouses where you sit around a big grill and the chefs basically put on a show for you as they cook your meal.
It costs a LOT. But for dinner and entertainment it's worth it.

I'm a sushi addict. In fact, my absolute favorite food is a green dragon roll - a California roll, often with tempura shrimp added as well, and avocado and eel on top. It's usually freshwater eel, though I personally prefer saltwater.

One of my favorite sushi places even makes it LOOK like a dragon. Pretty incredible. |D

But really I'll eat just about any kind of sushi. I'm not all that fond of a lot of the prepackaged stuff (actually the only kind I really like is a particular brand of eel rolls - and it's next to impossible to get where I live >.<) or salmon/tuna rolls (too...squishy), but I'll eat it and like it. The only thing that really kills it for me is if the rice is too sweet (as in a particular brand of prepackaged sushi that you can get around here - ironically the same brand that makes the really good eel rolls).

The only kind of sushi I've ever had has been spicy shrimp. I'm not much of a fish fan, I tend to get stomachaches from it, and I was a little weary of trying eel, so I tried shrimp. It was pretty tasty. I'd love to go get some more.

I tried sushi once but I didn't like it, I don't like seaweed. Plus most of it has meat of some kind and I don't eat anything that has muscle (that includes fish, in case you want to tell me otherwise). Also: Japanese food in general makes me queasy afterwards, so I've stopped trying to eat it. TT__TT It's so sad, I love anime and am taking Japanese classes, but I don't think I can ever go to Japan!

I LOVE sushi! It's one of my favorite foods ever, including sashimi. When I don't feel like eating only pieces of raw fish, I get sushi, so that the raw fish gets a wad of rice beneath it. It's more filling like that. Of course, usually I just eat both sashimi and sushi together...sooooo delicious...

The only kind of sushi I ever eat are the kind topped with salmon though, there are others I've tried but never quited liked as much as I did with salmon. Squid is also pretty good...I'll eat almost any sushi that doesn't have seaweed or toppings with other than fish on it.

I hate wasabi though...I never eat my sushi/sashimi with wasabi. Soy sauce alone is enough...wasabi kills my tongue and nose.

Sushi is ok. I can't stand wasabi though. Ha ha, my mom watched this Japanese 'x-factor' show and they had to eat TONS of wasabi... It was funny as heck!

I love sushi~ <33 No sashimi though.. I just don't like it. :(

I've never liked wasabi either. I tried it once and it was horrible. Dx
One time, my classmate's mother brought in sushi for our Japanese class to eat and everyone was going up to the table to get sushi and stuff. There were bowls of soy sauce too and they had labels in Japanese, but I didn't bother reading them and just got some soy sauce.. xD; Then I went back to my desk, dipped my sushi roll into the soy sauce, and guess what? There was wasabi mixed in it. x____x;; Guess I learned a good lesson to read all labels. xD;

I luuuurve sushi!

My husband and I even make our own together. Our sushi is not as good as the stuff you get in proper sushi restaurants yet (we always have a little too much rice!), but we're getting there.

I'm not a fan of wasabi, though, it's much too strong for little me!

Seems like a lot of people dislike wasabi xD

What color is the wasabi there for you? I heard from somewhere that in Japan wasabi is actually greenish-white, but the wasabi here I've seen are all green. Like, fresh grass-green. Heard it was because the Japanese gave us the parts that weren't so good (near the top where the leaves were) and left the best parts (roots) to themselves. But I've never had the news confirmed, so I'm curious...
