What was the toughest video game you've ever played? Why was it so hard? Did you finally beat it, or did you end up giving up?
For me, it would be Brave Fencer Musashi XD. The controls were insane and jumping was practically impossible. The "Steamwood has gone beserk" part had me screaming at my television >__>;. I ended up giving up and never finishing it.

HMM it was parasite eve 2. I hated the way that the controls had changed in the sequal, and I couldn't get used to it. Not only that but it was so glitchy and the monsters were overly powerful. I didn't get past the first hour in that game. Its utterly unfortunate too because the first parasite eve was amazing. I still love that game.

It is always whatever video game I'm playing at the time except I've never had a problem with .hack//G.U.
Right now it is FFXII. Within two seconds two of my three characters are dead. (They are lvl 13 and the boss is lvl 14.)
I wish cure would cast faster.

You'll probably laugh, but the one boss in KH.
The Chameleon thing, which shot beams out of it's eyes and the hunter. I didn't have heal yet, and it was impossible.

I never had a problem at any full game just parts of some.
FFX Yunalesca until I found out the trick behind Megadeath.
FFVIII The final boss at level 7... Okay so maybe trying it was a bad idea...
.Hack series... Getting virus cores from things 30+ levels lower than me.

Also, if you didn't know the trick, Earthbound for SNES was impossible to beat. The final boss had 100k HP and regenerated to full at the end of every turn. Just so you know, it's not possible to do that much damage in a single turn in that game without knowing the trick.

I fail at Final Fantasy Tactics for PSX...i need to try harder but the more i try the harder it seems, maybe I am too dense for it or it might be so simple that my Complexity cannot handle its simplcity, either way I cant beat any random battles for there is no Run command and if your main character stays dead Three turns he turns into a gem and Game over. as for the hired party members Dead three turns and they vanish and can never come back, maybe it is too hard I don't know. enough yapping from me.

The steamwood area in BFM was definitely annoying XD but it's far from the toughest game I have played.
I think for me it would be Metal Gear Sold 3: Snake Eater. (If your trying to be perfectly stealthy.) Outsmarting all the guards is tough. It's not too hard to kill them all XD but I don't like playing it that way. The highest ranking I think I have is Puma or something >_> Ah stealth master...
Next up would be Devil May Cry 3 on DMD mode. You barely do any damamge and your enemies can go super saiyan on you D:

Superman for the N64 was extremely difficult. The controls were goofy and awkward and the only task I ever achieved was flying through rings.. not a very rewarding task.

Return to Monkey Island and Grim Fandago. Both so hard, they are problem solving games it just took me forever you know? But it was worth it, both wonderful and creative games that I would encourage anybody to play, without cheating! No walk through! I'll beat you on the head if you do.

Super Ghouls and Goblins. Most difficult game EVER! I kept getting killed at the second stage! Ugh! It's a brilliant game and has aged wonderfully, but I can't seem to get the willpower to pick that darn game up anymore...
I'm also stuck on Resident Evil 4 on Proffesional mode. I just can't seem to be able to beat Krauser and it gets me so frustrated I want to scream! I want that PRL laser so badly I dream about it....*sob*

Eeh. I'd actually have to say Baten Kaitos (And Origins). I die a few times on boss battles, it's really hard! I mean, I'll stop playing for a few weeks and then try again! It's kinda frustrating. . but usually I eventually get passed them.

It would be a tie between:
Devil May Cry 3, and Silent Hill 4.
Those two games were tough.
I even considered using cheats to get through them.
I'm not the best gamer in the world, so I usually try cheats when I can't manage to pass a level.
I dislike going through the same part of the game over, and over, and over, and over.......well, you get the point. ^__^

Okay, this probably an old game nobody's heard about, but I have been a big Star Trek fan so I had to try "Deep Space Nine: Crossroads of Time" when it came out. It was on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, I had the SNES version. It was just stupidly difficult. I couldn't even get past the first part where you have to find all the bombs in the Pylons and disarm/dispose of them all. That was Level 1. XD I gave it plenty of attempts but it was insane. Trekkie though I may be, that was enough for me!

Well, FFXII is pretty hard, but doable. It's just time consuming sometimes for me. :)
My worst experiences have been in Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy and Magna Carta: Tears of Blood.
In Sphinx, it's puzzle after puzzle, and they are NOT easy. The game is fun, but if you screw up on one thing, it's possible to get a glitch where you're in an area you will NEVER leave, so you can't even go back to get what you needed to leave that area...
So fixing it is impossible. D:
At least, that's how I read it. And guess who got to that area and got that glitch? Me.
Magna Carta: Tears of Blood is also time consuming, but I actually threw down my controller and said, "Sorry, I was interested, and I love you, Magna Carta...but I am NOT doing counter mode."
Counter Mode...it's evil. Even once you get the hang of it. It took me twenty-four hours of loading up the game constantly and retrying it. I couldn't even sleep, it bothered me so much. D:
