I actually read three things mostly. Main one is tokyo pop, then viz, then shojo beat. I really like dark horse, but their manga is hard to find at stores T_T

I'd say I mostly get Viz. Over summer the bookstore had buy 3 Viz get one free...that was really awesome. Never had any trouble taking advantage of that deal. I do read a lot from ShojoBeat though. And probably an even, though lesser, amount of Dark Horse and Tokyopop. I don't pay so much attention to the company. *shrugs*

DelRey and Tokyopop. I didn't like how Viz decided to stop trading in Europe just because it was 20% of its customer base. No matter how you look at it, it's a LOT.

Tokyo Pop and DelRey are my favourite. I never buy from Viz. Most of my favourite manga's are published by DelRey, and most of them people never heard of or is not that popular. As for Tokyo Pop, I really love shoujo, magical girl and romance manga, so that;s like pretty much all I buy. xDD

I know DelRay is a branch of Random House publishing, but I've never read any series of theirs yet so I don't know how good they are.

Dark Horse started manga in America, and they do a good job with it. But their stuff tends to be a bit darker/more gory. Really the only thing I read of theirs is Hellsing.

VIZ... it's VIZ. Shonen Jump and all that. Therefore, it has a lot of good series, but they kept trying to Americanize everything. I know they've gotten better about it, but they're still just getting there.

Tokyopop's a bit more on the ball. Their formatting has always been pretty decent and they have good titles too. So they get my vote as number one.

Looking over I think I have a pretty even split of Tokyo Pop and Viz, possibly more Viz though that has begun to change.

There's really no reason for this other than the fact that the series I'm curious about happens to be published through that company, I don't try to keep my collection mostly so-and-so publishing house. I admit those 'Buy 4 get the 5th free' sales have increased the number of Viz that I own though ^^; I have a problem passing up a free manga.

There's a little ADV (Mai Hime), Dark Horse (Blade of the Immortal), and Del-Ray (Genshiken) that I read but really I go by series rather than who publishes. I honestly don't pay attention though I think ADV disappoints me a lot. I got Azumanga Daioh and was severely disappointed that things were changed, that was the only time I actually considered staying away from a specific publisher.

I don't buy manga, I borrow it from my local library. Most of the manga is Tokyopop but there's also some viz and del rey. Dark Horse also sounds familiar so I must've read at least one volume of a Dark Horse manga.

Tokyopop!
They bring the most selections. (I'm pretty mad since Viz has been here for a while and they only get long series! They need to start getting shorter series with only five volumes. They usually produce the ones with thirty volumes!)

Well, what about CMX?

Personally, I met an editor from Del Rey at a con, and he really impressed me, so I tend to at least look at their stuff. I mean, I love their sff, so how can I not like the manga?

Tokyopop reminds me of McDonalds. It's the oldest, and has the most.

I mainly have Dark Horse and Tokyopop, though I have a few Viz ones floating around. Dark Horse for Hellsing and Trigun. Tokyopop for apparently everything else apparently, though I get a few that aren't published by the three companies that I stated.

  • I read most from Tokyopop (or so my bookshelf tells me after I quickly scanned my manga collection) but I don't consciously choose a certain publisher over another. It wouldn't matter to me who was publishing a series if I wanted to buy it.

  • Most of the mangas and manhwas I have read were licensed by TokyoPop. They seem...to be providing me with the most diverse array of manhwas to fit my hunger. >D

I do love Viz/Shounen Jump for bringing Houshin Engi to the States though. God, I love that series to death.

I honestly don't like how they translate some things though. D: When they add slang to differentiate the nuances in the Japanese or Korean language, I cringe. Comparing a Korean countryside accent...or an Osaka accent to a Southern one...just...ew...ew...>_>; I just have a hard time accepting it. (clearly 8D)
