I would suggest posting (remember not to doublt post or spam) around, or playing the games. The longer your post is (can't be spam, or have useless information that is off topic, and it can't just be a copy and paste) the more gold you get. So its good to start up some big conversations in the threads with people, and you'll earn more gold.

Some items are rather cheap in the stores, so once you earn a few hundred, you can go get an outfit.
