Has anyone else played these games?

I personally prefer Shadow of the Colossus to Ico, but since they're semi related, I decided to make a thread about both of them.

I love the atmosphere in both of them, and I love that their story lines are open for interpretation.

If you've played both of them, which one do you prefer?

As for Shadow of the Colossus, which colossus battle was your favorite?

If you haven't played either of them, I highly recommend them as they're one of the best examples of video games as an art.

My boyfriend used to play Shadow of the Colossus! He really liked it. It was actually very interesting to watch. He lost interest after beating it though, so I guess it's not engaging enough to want to beat it twice. My favorite part was the horse. xD

I've only played through it once myself, but I'll rarely play through a game a second time.

Someday I might play it again because it's such a simple game compared to others on the market, it would be like learning to ride a bike all over again.

I personally hated the horse. xD It was always getting in my way during colossus battles. And I was always wrestling with the controls during horseback battles.

Huh. I got mine a little over a year ago at Circuit City when they were having a sale on all their Greatest Hits, Players' Choice, etc... games. And I got Ico used at a GameStop years after it came out. Maybe it's a regional thing.

I also watched my bf play Shadow of the Colossus. It looked like an amazing game and I wanted to play it myself when he was finished. Sadly, his brother took it and we haven't seen it since. xD

I have Shadow of the Colossus and I love it. When I first got it I was so confused. But when I got the hang of it I was blown away. The best part to me is just to battles themselves. The one I liked the most I think was the flying one. But now I'm stuck because I can't find the next colossus

Which one do you need help finding?

And there's more than one flying one (I think there's two, but I can't remember exactly). I'll just assume you mean the first one. :3

Oh yeah my bad, I did mean the first one. But anyway I can't find the colossus right after the first flying one, I think its number 6 but I'm not sure.

It's to the southwest. You'll go through a forest (forests are really hard to navigate in this game) that has two exits, I think. One's a dead end overlooking a lake, and the other one will lead you through a tunnel. There's a desert on the other side. Just keep heading southwest toward a group of mountains near the ocean. I can't remember exactly, but there should be a doorway or something similar facing north in a cliff face that you have to go through to get to the colossus.

I died in the first battle in ICO, and same with Shadow of the Colossus. I almost beat the first colossi, but I'm just really uncordinated with some games. In Ico, I just didn't have the manual for the game since I bought a used copy, and when I got into battle, I was trying to figure out how to attack. Thank goodness someone had scans of the guide to give me...though I would have figured it out eventually.

Honestly, I love the feel of the games. I'd probably have an easier time watching them then playing them myself. They just have an amazing atmosphere. There's something dark yet serene...and I enjoy riding the horse and killing lizards in Shadow of the Colossus. :3 For some reason I had more fun/spent more time doing that than anything else...haha. XD

There are so many games I need to play someday that I own; these are two of them. Dx I have to restart them from the beginning though...

i have played shadow of the colossus and it was very fun.

but i kept getting mad at it because the horse got in my way and some of the colossi were so hard to climb onto...but it is a very good game for one of those afternoons where you have nothing to do but kill something that doesn't really exist.

I've never played Ico, but I have played Shadow of the Colossus. And... WOW. It's still one of the most visually amazing games I've ever seen. It has such an air of mysticism to it and it does such an amazing job of pulling you into Wander's world. I love it. I love the atmosphere, the landscapes, the game play... Everything. I've never experienced such awe while playing a video game than I did when that first colossus rises up from the ground and you see just how MASSIVE it is.

So cool~
