What was the first book you ever read by your self? Do you remember? My first books I read to myself were the books about the Dog Spot and I also read Mother Goose! Which was pretty good for an almost four year old! Don't you think?

I think the first book I ever read by myself was forcibly in my kindergarten class. :/ Once they figured out I was brilliant at reading and English in general, I found myself reading "Pat sat on a mat"-type books. So I know it was something like that, I just don't know which book exactly that it was.

It was Wind in the Willows yeah I was an awesome kid. My dad and I used to read it together in effort to teach me how to read and some nights I would read on my own. But my first word I read was in the newspaper and part of an advertisement. it was "CAR".

I don't really remember.
My parents really encouraged reading, and used to read to us a lot, often they'd read with me, and I'd read out all the words I knew while they read the others.

So I think it was probably the Puddle Lane series of books, they had a version with the usual story on one side of the page, and a simpler version with shorter words on the other side, so young children could read it by themselves.

I don't remember the name of it, but it was a book I got for Easter one year. It was about these two boys who were best friends and they stopped being friends for a little while....I forget why, but it had something to do with loosing baby teeth and getting money from the tooth fairy.

My first book probably was a collection of Hans Christian Andersen stories. It was my mum's so she used to read to me and I read most by myself when she gave it to me. I think I was around 6 when I started reading it by myself.

Ah, Puddle Lane! I used to love those. Mom would always read to me, and i can recall being able to real fluently by the time i was 4/5. I don't remember my first solo book, book i know the kind of things i used to read when i was very young, although the names escape me.

The first REAL book I ever read was The Lord of the Rings. I was about 7 years old. I read other silly things before it, to be sure, but this is the one I remember. Granted, I didn't understand everything I am sure, but still.

Other than that, I always read this book on Mythology that my sister owned (who is 9 years my senior). I took that thing everywhere and reread the stories dozens of times.

Ohh, I've read so many I can't even remember. My mom used to sit and read with me at bedtime when I was little. So it was probably one of them. She was really big into reading, she got me all sorts of computer games and things like Reader Rabbit and the LeapPad. I remember when I reached the point where I read faster than the computer did.

God, so long ago. The first book I ever read to myself... I have to think. It was probably Goodnight Moon or it might have been this book called Underwear! It's been too long. The first "novel" I ever read was The Indian in the Cupboard. I think.

The first book I remember was "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. I've been meaning to buy that book for years too DDD:
